pumpkinFall is one of our customers’ favorite seasons to visit Hicks. Take a picture with Otto the Ghost, enjoy a hayride down a decorated trail and visit with the farm animals. And while you’re here enjoy our fresh picked apples, fudge, roasted corn*, popcorn*, apple cider, candy apples and other fall treats! Our animated children’s story, featuring Otto the Ghost, leads children and adults through a new story each year that focuses on friendship, family and Halloween cheer. In addition, we encourage children and adults to grow their own pumpkins to enter in our giant pumpkin contest and get creative with carving and decorating for our annual pumpkin carving contest. During the week, we will bring your school group through all of the exciting events and they leave with a pumpkin and a fresh picked apple. Call for details.

Otto the Ghost's Animated Story

“Otto’s New Costume”

Otto is tired of being the ‘same old ghost’ every year and decides to try on some new costumes. His experimenting with new looks leads to a pleasant discovery. Six animatronic scenes run continuously during store hours and have read along story cards. Admission to the show is free and is completely handicap accessible.

The nursery would greatly appreciate donations of non-perishable food items for Long Island Cares.

Christmas at Hicks
Dec 1 – Dec 26 all-day

ChristmasChristmas begins at Hicks Nurseries with the opening of the Christmas animated story and the arrival of Santa Claus. Santa is available weekdays and weekends for picture taking with your own camera. Additionally, children can mail a letter to Santa in our special North Pole mailbox and get a response! Our real, live reindeer bring smiles to the faces of many children and adults, as well as a serving as a reminder that Santa will be coming to your home soon! Our music on the weekends has become a family favorite.

A warm cup of hot chocolate or cider while picking out your tree in a covered area will become a family tradition.
