One of the questions we hear most often this time of year is ‘Is it time to plant?’ The answer depends entirely on what you want to plant.

Now is the time to plant trees, shrubs, perennials, roses and bulbs in your garden. Cool weather vegetables such as lettuce, kale and carrots should also be planted now. Grass seed loves the cool weather and can also be applied to lawns now. Truckloads of fresh plants have arrived at Hicks Nurseries for Spring!

Annuals such as geraniums and petunias, and warm weather vegetables and herbs such as tomatoes, basil, peppers and eggplant should not be planted outdoors until around Mother’s Day. This is when we can be more certain the temperatures will stay warm and plants will not be damaged by frost.

Let us help you create the outdoor spaces you have always dreamed of. From advice to planting, delivery and complete landscape design our experienced staff is here to help you every step of the way.
