Mosquitoes are a nuisance that can ruin a perfectly beautiful evening outdoors. The best way to ensure your summer is mosquito-free is to control the problem before it starts.

Mosquitoes breed in standing water, so be sure to keep items such as tarps, tires, saucers, children’s toys and other items in the yard covered when it’s raining or turn them upside-down so they don’t fill with water. If you’re friendly with your neighbors, encourage them to do the same.

Plant Herbs
Herbs such as citronella, basil, lemon balm and lavender naturally repel mosquitoes when planted near patios and walkways. They’ll make your garden look and smell delicious!

Turn on a Fan
No really, a fan. Mosquitoes are weak flyers and tend to stay away from windy situations. An oscillating fan on the patio will help to keep them away.
